LBA-MIP Model Data Upload Instructions

Overview

After completing model runs, modeling groups should upload their results as described below then e-mail the LBA-MIP Organizers, informing them that the data have been uploaded. Model results should be transmitted via FTP (file transfer protocol) to ftp.climatemodeling.org. Each modeling group will be assigned a username/password combination for logging into the server to upload their data. Modeling groups must agree to the following terms for use of the upload server.

Terms and Conditions of Upload Server Use

This is a Federal computer system and is the property of the United States Government. It is for authorized use only. Users (authorized or unauthorized) have no explicit or implicit expectation of privacy.

Any or all uses of this system and all files on this system may be intercepted, monitored, recorded, copied, audited, inspected, and disclosed to authorized site, Department of Energy, and law enforcement personnel, as well as authorized officials of other agencies, both domestic and foreign. By using this system, the user consents to such interception, monitoring, recording, copying, auditing, inspection, and disclosure at the discretion of authorized site or Department of Energy personnel.

Unauthorized or improper use of this system may result in administrative disciplinary action and civil and criminal penalties. By continuing to use this system you indicate your awareness of and consent to these terms and conditions of use. LOG OFF IMMEDIATELY if you do not agree to the conditions stated in this warning.


Data uploaded to ftp.climatemodeling.org must be ultimately eligible for public release or availability, even though this may not happen immediately. In addition, the data are uploaded to a shared area with limited security. The login information is shared informally, and it can be intercepted as it passes over the Internet. Therefore, information placed on the server may become accessible to, and even altered by, persons outside of the intended group. KEEP YOUR OWN COPIES OF ALL FILES. Notify forrest@climatemodeling.org immediately if you see unexpected alterations in your files.

Procedure

  1. Obtain username/password combination for uploading model results.

  2. Connect to the FTP server and upload model results. For example:

    where username and password are those obtained in Step 1.

  3. E-mail the LBA-MIP Organizers at lba-mip-organizers@climatemodeling.org to inform them that your data have been uploaded.
